HQP 104 Product Development Project Manager with a Focus on CoO and IP (m/f/d)
Join us in shaping the next generation of innovative solar products. In this role, you’ll manage international development projects from concept through to successful launch into mass production—and ensure, through thorough cost and IP assessments, that technological decisions are both economically sound and strategically well-positioned.
Your Responsibilities
- You will lead and coordinate development projects for innovative solar products and their components in R&D, with a strong focus on cost efficiency and IP considerations.
- You will develop and maintain Total Cost of Ownership (CoO/TCO) models for products, technologies, and manufacturing processes, using them to guide data-driven decisions.
- You will create and evaluate business cases (including CAPEX/OPEX, NPV, and sensitivity analyses) to support product and technology decisions along the value chain.
- You will analyze and assess patent landscapes, IP portfolios, and competitive intellectual property, deriving actionable recommendations for product and technology strategies.
- You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., IP departments and patent attorneys) to assess Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) and mitigate IP risks early in the development process.
- You will manage cross-functional and international project teams from planning through development to production ramp-up at our manufacturing sites in the USA, Korea, Malaysia, and China.
- You will provide functional leadership to project team members and ensure execution in line with established project management standards and methodologies.
- You will continuously align with global quality management, product management, manufacturing, procurement, finance, and IP/legal functions.
- You will act as the central point of contact for project stakeholders and prepare decision-ready materials for senior management, including cost, risk, and IP evaluations.
- You will support product launches on-site and ensure that timelines, quality, costs (including CoO), and strategic project objectives are transparently tracked and achieved.
Your Profile
- You hold a degree in engineering, business, or a related field, ideally with a focus on renewable energy, photovoltaics, or industrial product development.
- You bring several years of experience in project management and have successfully led international or cross-functional teams.
- You have solid experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Cost engineering, CoO/TCO modeling, or business case analysis
- Technology evaluation or Intellectual Property (IP)
- Product development with a strong economic focus
- You have a good understanding of investment evaluation methods (e.g., NPV, IRR) and industrial cost structures.
- Initial experience with patents, IP strategies, or patent analysis is considered a strong advantage.
- You work in a structured, goal-oriented, and analytical manner and maintain clarity even in complex project environments.
- You communicate clearly, confidently, and effectively with different stakeholders and demonstrate strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- You are proficient in MS Office and ideally familiar with project management and analytical tools.
- You are fluent in both German and English, written and spoken.
International travel to support product launches at our manufacturing sites is expected.
