We are currently looking for a highly motivated Simulation & Modelling Expert to strengthen our R&D team in the field of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells. If you are passionate about theoretical work, device physics, and predictive modelling, we would love to hear from you.

Your Role: Driving Theoretical Understanding & Predictive Modelling

As a key member of our international R&D team, you will play a central role in building a deep physical understanding of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells and translating it into predictive simulation models that guide experimental and technological development.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Device Modelling & Simulation:

  • Develop and apply physical models of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells
  • Perform simulations using Setfos and comparable tools
  • Analyse the impact of material properties, interfaces (including perovskite-based layers), and device architectures on performance

Physics-Based Understanding:

  • Build a deep understanding of charge transport, recombination mechanisms, and interface physics
  • Investigate complex phenomena such as ionic migration and electrochemical effects in perovskite materials
  • Translate theoretical insights into actionable guidelines for device and process optimization

Parameter Extraction & Model Calibration:

  • Derive and refine model parameters based on experimental data
  • Correlate simulation results with real device performance and characterization data
  • Continuously improve model accuracy and predictive capability

Data-Driven & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with experimental, integration, and characterization teams
  • Support interpretation of measurement results through simulation
  • Contribute to a holistic understanding of device behaviour across all development stages

Technology Development & Innovation:

  • Drive innovation through simulation-guided design of next-generation perovskite-silicon tandem architectures
  • Identify performance limits and new concepts for efficiency and stability improvements
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and long-term research strategies

Your Profile: Expertise Meets Physical Insight

We are looking for a scientifically rigorous and curious individual with a strong foundation in semiconductor physics and device modelling.

Your Qualifications:

  • Degree in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred)
  • Strong background in semiconductor device physics and solar cell operation principles
  • Hands-on experience with Setfos (mandatory) or similar simulation tools
  • Experience in numerical modelling and simulation of optoelectronic devices
  • Ability to link theoretical models with experimental data

Highly desirable (not mandatory):

  • Experience with perovskite solar cells or perovskite-silicon tandem technologies
  • Understanding of ionic effects and degradation mechanisms in perovskite materials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Very good written and spoken English (German is a plus)
  • Willingness to collaborate in an international environment
