Specialist Intellectual Property
Position Overview
The Specialist Intellectual Property will report directly to the Director, Global Intellectual Property and play a pivotal role in executing Qcells’ global IP strategy. This position is essential to ensure the smooth operation and integrity of the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and managing Qcells’ patent portfolio, including:
- Patent Portfolio Management:
- Maintain and update the company’s global patent portfolio database.
- Monitor and track the status of all patent applications and granted patents.
- Compliance and Deadlines:
- Monitoring and tracking critical deadlines such as annuity payments, foreign filing decisions, and office action responses.
- Proactively communicating upcoming deadlines and requirements to patent engineers and the Director, Global IP.
- Track and manage national filing deadlines for patent applications and related documents.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with patent engineers and the Director of IP to implement IP strategies.
- Coordinate global inventor incentive payments in a timely manner
- Liaise with external counsel and patent offices as needed for filings and maintenance, in close collaboration with Director, IP.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and organize documentation for filings, renewals, and portfolio audits.
- Generate regular reports on portfolio status and upcoming deadlines for patent engineers as well as internal stakeholders, as well as reports and analytics as requested.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified vocational training with several years of professional experience; Bachelor’s degree desirable.
- Prior paralegal or patent portfolio management experience preferred.
- Administrative/management experience and/or training is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle a diverse range of tasks and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail in reviewing legal documents, ensuring all information is accurate and compliant.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email management systems, with an ability to use legal software for document management
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude, capable of working effectively with diverse team members and stakeholders
